Rock Da Villa Youth Group
|
Well, your most probably wondering where 'Rock Da Villa' came from and why our Youth Group are called that??? 'Da Villa' comes from The Church Manse ( Da Villa Costa Lotta) and 'Rock' comes from The Church Manse as well, because it is always Rocking with People Day-in and Day-out. Anyway, back to the Story. Youth Group is held every Tuesday night at the Church from 6pm to 8pm.
In our community some are struggling day to day with Education, Teenage Pregnancy, Gambling, Domestic Violence, Drugs & Alcohol and Crime.
Most don't attend Church but they know it is a safe place, where they won't be judged. It's a place where they can have time out from their Families, School & meet new friends.

Sista Gurls
|
Sista Gurls is one of our Programs running at the Port Augusta Congress Faith Community Church. It runs every fortnight for young girls between the ages of 7 to 12. It's a night for Girls to have Fun,Chill Out, make New Friends & Be Themselves. As there is very little to do in our town for this age group, there was a need for us to do something about it. With limited funding & plenty of Support from our Congregation and Volunteers. Sista Gurls totally rocks!! Sista Gurls is about Sharing Stories, Respecting each other and Empowering each other.

Youth Yarn
|
Rock Da Villa Youth Group (Port Augusta) & Youth Members of Murray Bridge Congress did a weekend stayover at West Lakes Uniting Church. It was good to have caught up with the Aunty Sue (Reverend Sue Ellis) & Members of the Congregation and share stories. We presented West Lakes Uniting Church a painting, on behalf of our Youth for their Hospitality and a start of a new friendship.

Last Wednesday a group of VIPs visiting Davenport dropped in on Tjintjunanyi. The delegation was from the Aboriginal Lands Parliamentary Standing Committee and included Duncan McFetridge, Lea Stevens and Lyn Breuer. They were most impressed with the students and the work of the program.
